The Steady Keel is a Guatemalan medium roast with a silky texture and fine flavor with notes of cinnamon, chocolate, and sugar cane sweetness.
All proceeds from coffee sales supports our Education Campaign on overfishing, the unregulated high seas, and sustainable seafood consumption practices.
Our coffee is sourced from Guatemalan coffee trees, nourished by rich volcanic soil, and are grown on steep hillsides across the southern volcanic range of Guatemala.
Coffee with a Purpose & Passion - "I’m a surfer in Southern California and a religious coffee drinker. The ocean is where my heart is and I discovered saving oceans and absolutely fell in love with both the company and their coffee. No plastic, no harmful products or messages, just good quality coffee with a passion and love for the ocean behind it. Thank you saving oceans team for all that you do. 🤙🙏"
Smooth & Sweet - "My partner and I love this coffee! A cinnamon-sweet flavor with an incredibly smooth body makes this coffee our new local favorite. There's something in the aroma that helps us rise up and hear the bells each morning. We also love supporting a local non-profit that puts the environment first with its mission and its 100% compostable packaging. On a more personal note, I'm a huge fan of nautical 19th-century elements, so the bag design gets a big thumbs up from me, and might find a framed home in my future Melville-room."
"This stuff is amazing! If you have the opportunity to splurge just a little, do it on this coffee! I used to travel ALOT and I can say this is one of the best cup's of Joe I have ever had. SO HAPPY I can get it right here in UT and support a good cause. :) Well done guys!"
and coffee has the ability of waking up the mind. Thus our medium roast was named after the fourth line of Walt Whitman's, "Oh Captain! My Captain!" a poem which is largely interpreted as the Union's winning of the Civil War and the devastating assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
Our coffee pays homage to the dedication President Lincoln had in the freeing of enslaved peoples. Slavery is still rampant today in many developing nations and it is all too abundant in the commercial fishing industry around the world. Our organization sheds light on the issue of sea slavery and with every bag purchased our education efforts reach more ears.
